Healthy sweets are a great alternative for people who want to cut down on traditional sweets. You can satisfy your sweet tooth in a better, healthier way for your body. How? Check out our 7 ideas for healthy sweets without added sugar or with a small amount of sugar!
Healthy sweets and snacks can be delicious
One of the actions that will help you change your eating habits is limiting sugar in your diet. It is a challenge because really many products contain sugar and/or sugar syrups – highly processed sweets available in every store, sweetened dairy products, white bread, sweetened carbonated and non-carbonated beverages, as well as ready-made meals.
In the article about how to eat healthily, we wrote that the key to a balanced diet is reading product labels. It is no different with sweets. However, you may worry that healthy eating and sweets do not go together. What's more, there is a belief that healthy sugar-free sweets cannot be tasty, cannot be enjoyable. Is that really the case? We believe that with our products we prove that it doesn't have to be.
Of course, if you want to limit the amount of sugar in your diet, we first recommend choosing fresh fruit instead of sweet snacks. However, if you have a craving for something sweet, but it's not fruit, we have a few suggestions for you.
1. Cookies
Are you looking for an idea for a nutritionally valuable sweet? A ready-made solution is BeRaw's healthy mini cookies, which are perfect as a sweet snack. They are made from natural ingredients such as dates and coconut flakes, and instead of white sugar, you will find, for example, date syrup in the composition. In addition, the cookies contain a synbiotic, which is a combination of a probiotic and a prebiotic. This saves you time and gives you the assurance that your snack is a healthy alternative to sweets. The cookies have a simple composition, contain no added sugar, palm oil, preservatives, or artificial ingredients.
2. Nut butters
Although healthy nut butters are hard to consider low-calorie sweets, if you exercise moderation, it will be a much better choice than creams with a low nut content. Nut butters are a major source of good fat – they have a reasonable ratio of unsaturated fatty acids to saturated ones. They are also rich in protein, so they will perfectly complement your daily diet. It is a natural sweet, but also a great addition to healthy cookies, pancakes, oatmeal, or smoothies.
3. Nuts and dried fruit
Do you have a craving for something sweet? Always keep a bag of nuts in your purse or backpack. Dried fruit also works great as healthy sweets. It is a much better solution than a package of your favorite candies sitting on your desk that you reach for almost automatically. Nuts and dried fruit are also perfect as a snack during travel and trips, when it is harder to find healthy, proven products. You can also use them as valuable food to munch on during a new movie screening or your favorite TV series.
4. Bars without added sugar
Many parents wonder if there are healthy sweets for children that they can give them without guilt, e.g. during travel. You can find various recipes for homemade bars online, but you can also make your life easier. Although just a few years ago, bars without added sugar were almost unavailable on the Polish market. Fortunately, today it is much easier to find sweets suitable for people on a diet or for children.
5. Oatmeal or sweet muesli
Oatmeal or muesli instead of dessert? It is a great alternative to ultra-sweet, ready-made pseudo-desserts found on store shelves. The portion does not have to be the same as for breakfast – a smaller amount of healthy sweet muesli (or warm oatmeal in the fall-winter season, e.g. with baked apple) will work perfectly as a dessert. As a protein addition, we recommend our nut butter.
6. Smoothie
Instead of sweets, we always recommend fresh fruit first – they contain natural sugars, and above all, lots of valuable ingredients, including vitamins. However, that is not always the case when you think you have a craving for something sweet. A delicious compromise is a smoothie – it is a truly healthy alternative to sweets, which we enrich with vitamins and minerals. A smoothie will work as a liquid snack for a child while playing at the playground or traveling by train. It is also suitable for work instead of a conventional chocolate bar.
7. Gummies with a good composition
Healthy candies without added sugar sound unbelievable, but that is exactly how you can treat our natural gummies. If you pay attention to what your child eats, you know perfectly well that glucose-fructose syrup or preservatives are not welcome ingredients. Fortunately, there are already healthy snacks for children on the market that have a much better composition – after all, it is not about constantly denying children sweets, but teaching them to choose good products and eating habits.
Our gummies have a simple, fruity composition and contain neither glucose-fructose syrup nor an extra serving of sugar. They are therefore natural sweets that you can treat as a small pleasure from time to time.
Do you have to give up sweets?
It is said that sweets are not healthy, but that does not apply to all products – some are naturally sweet. You just need to avoid the highly processed ones, in which sugar reigns supreme at the beginning, and the composition often also contains extra servings of sugar, e.g. in the form of glucose-fructose syrup, honey, concentrated fruit juice, or other sweeteners. This is important because statistically we eat 3.5 kg of sugar – sugar is not only found in sweets.
The question of what sweets can be eaten on a diet is not entirely well-aimed, but... If you do not have a doctor's recommendation that you must completely give up sugar, you can allow yourself a treat from time to time. It is just about choosing something other than a nut cream full of palm oil, or a bar with 3 types of sugar at the beginning of the composition.
You can prepare healthy, homemade sweets or, if you do not have time every day to spend in the kitchen, choose a simpler solution. In our store's offer, you will find, among others, snacks without added sugar – delicious, with a simple composition and without guilt.
